Okay, let’s wrap things up with some more nonsensical (fun + stupid) news.
Have you ever wanted to explore the metaverse (i.e. the 3D version of the Internet) from your phone?
No? No, neither do we.
But it will soon be possible, thanks to The Sandbox’s next development of a decentralized metaverse for mobile.
Here’s the argument for this:
Now we get it – we’re not living in 2008 anymore – but remember when Zuck decided to focus all of Facebook’s attention, energy and budget on mobile?
When suddenly, instead of people using a clunky web-based version on their smartphones, literally everyone started using the FB mobile app while waiting in line, sitting at the DMV, or while sitting on the restroom?
The hope is that something similar will happen.
Instead of scrolling through Instagram, when The Sandbox metaverse makes its way to mobile, in an ideal world at least some of those people will choose to explore the metaverse.
But we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: for the metaverse to become popular, people need a reason to come, to stay, and most importantly: coming back.
The Sandbox just raised $20 million to help with their vision of bringing the metaverse to mobile, which is a good sign for the web3 industry.
Let’s hope they don’t build the world’s largest metaverse but leave people hanging on that last part.
(A reason coming back)!
