Improvements in Mainnet 2.1: Interchain NFT integration, expanded API functionality, and under-the-hood upgrades
The Mainnet 2.1 upgrade introduces a standout feature: the integration of the NFT transfer module, providing Interchain non-fungible token (NFT) functionality. After rigorous testing at the GoN event and rigorous audits, Mainnet 2.1 will provide developers with game-changing capabilities.
In response to user demands, IRISnet 2.1 extends its API functionality. Support for querying NFTs via the x/nft module API and the irismod/nft module allows users to delve into the vast landscape of Interchain NFTs, expanding the boundaries of the ecosystem.
Under the hood, the upgrade includes improvements such as upgrades to Cosmos SDK v0.47.4, CometBFT v0.37.2 and IBC v7.3.0 – improvements aimed at improving overall system performance. The upgrade procedure consists of three steps: submitting the on-chain upgrade proposal, a voting period, and finally executing the mainnet upgrade. It is important to note that the Mainnet 2.1 upgrade will be compatible.
The proposed timeline for the upgrade is as follows: activation of the testnet on December 15, 2023, submission of an on-chain upgrade proposal on January 3, 2024, and actual execution of the upgrade on January 8, 2024. However, it is important to recognize that the actual upgrade timeline is subject to the Upgrade Proposal.
Developers are advised to take note of the upgrade notes, especially the migration of parameters in the params module to their respective modules in accordance with the Cosmos-SDK v0.47.4 upgrade requirements.
