Maxwell Hard Fork: What Actually Improved?

The Maxwell hard fork, which appears live as of June 30, is the most important technical update this year. According to BscScan data, on the same date, average block times dropped from 1.5 seconds to around 0.8 seconds, with a target of 0.75 seconds.

This makes BNB Chain one of the fastest general-purpose blockchains in production.

The upgrade is powered by three protocol proposals:

• BEP-524 reduced block times, improving transaction confirmation speed.

Daily competition

Weekly competition

• First place: up to $500,000
• Second: $400,000
• Third: $300,000
• Fourth: $200,000

Scores are weighted by trading volume, price performance, and market cap. Volume carries the most weight.

MEXC Partnership

On April 9, BNB Chain partnered with MEXC to streamline listings and liquidity access.

Under the partnership:

• BNB Chain projects receive priority review
• Faster onboarding to MEXC spot and futures markets
• Placement in MEXC Alpha Ranking
• Access to MEXC’s 36 million users

Projects may also receive up to $500,000 in liquidity from BNB Chain’s $100 million incentive pool.

Real-world assets, or RWAs, were a major focus in 2025.

The BNB Chain RWA Incentive Program, launched May 29, accepts applications on a rolling basis. There is no deadline and no sector restriction.

Ondo Financebrought over 100 tokenized U.S. equities and ETFs to BNB Chain as BEP-20 tokens, backed 1:1.

Krakenintegrated its xStocks product, allowing non-U.S. users to trade tokenized equities like AAPLx and TSLAx.

BlackRock’s BUIDL fund is now supported on BNB Chain, with more than $500 million issued on the network. BUIDL can be used as collateral in Binance-linked institutional trading.

USYC, Circle’s tokenized money market fund, crossed $1 billion in supply, with $900 million on BNB Chain.

These assets are used as collateral in lending, margin trading, and structured products.
