Dogecoin has introduced Cardinals Index Node, a protocol upgrade designed to improve decentralization, speed, and data indexing for the DOGE blockchain.
With this upgrade, anyone can run a node to help maintain and validate the on-chain ledger, promoting a more distributed network architecture.
A key technical claim is that the index speed will reach 500 milliseconds, with the goal of making UTXO chains (such as DOGE) more responsive and capable of supporting on-chain queries and potentially more advanced logic.
Additionally, the upgrade is said to bring smart contract-like functionality to Dogecoin’s main chain without relying on EVM or Layer-2 systems. This shows the developers are trying to give DOGE more uses, making it more than just a meme coin or a simple payment channel.
Analysts turn bullish on DOGE
Naturally, it didn’t take long for the hype and bullish optimism to take the stage, even before the official upgrade launch. Before the Cardinals’ announcement, analysts had already been eyeing a move toward $0.36 if key resistance levels were broken for some time now.
However, as the launch was nearing, some had already made huge predictions, saying that Dogecoin could soar 3,700%, reaching nearly $12 by late 2025. This is obviously extremely optimistic, but the hype is there.
Then, another analyst pointed out today that DOGE made a bullish crossover on the MACD (short for moving average convergence/divergence, which is a popular tool used by traders to analyze price charts).

They pointed out that the last time this happened, the price surged over 550% and if history repeats (boosted by this new upgrade), DOGE could be headed toward $1.54, which is a more grounded prediction compared to the previous one.
In the end, meme coins thrive on hype, but to sustain value, they need underlying utility. The Cardinals Index Node upgrade and any similar upgrades help give Dogecoin real-world uses and technical credibility.
