Santa Monica, California, is launching a new office dedicated to educating the community about Bitcoin (BTC).
In a new announcement, the government of the city of Santa Monica – part of Los Angeles County – says it is opening the Bitcoin Office to help residents and businesses understand its potential and role in the modern economy.
“In partnership with the Proof of Workforce Foundation, we want to provide comprehensive education about Bitcoin and its role in the modern economy so that Santa Monica residents and businesses alike can understand this innovative technology.
In addition to providing education, the Bitcoin Office’s mission is also focused on identifying and facilitating Bitcoin industry partnerships that actively support Santa Monica’s economic recovery and cultivate new employment opportunities.
By fostering strategic partnerships, we strive to create a resilient and forward-looking local economy that benefits all members of our community.”
The Proof of Workforce Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping unions, organizations, and workers adopt the best cryptocurrency by market cap.
According to German data collection platform Statista, the city of Los Angeles had almost 2,000 Bitcoin ATMs in 2022, by far the most in the United States.
Bitcoin is trading at $61,336 at the time of writing, up more than 1% in the past 24 hours.
