About ‘Infinite Collections’
William Shatner’s Infinite Collections launched as pre-mint on Thursday, April 27, but will not be fully minted until May 25.
The Hollywood actor, best known as the original Star Trek captain, teamed up with Orange Comet to launch a “stunning” digital collection that aims to “evoke a vivid sense of wonder and curiosity” and showcase Shatner’s youthfulness, even at the age of 90.
To clarify, Infinite Collections will launch in two installments of 2500 and 1000 pieces respectively, all of which will launch as part of the pre-mint. ‘Cosmic Explorer’, the first on the list, contains two and a half thousand unique and detailed William Shatner digital collectibles. While the other, “Timeless Voyager,” sees a thousand 1-on-1 NFTs exploring “the wonders of the universe and beyond.”
The Cosmic Explorer Collection costs $499 each for buyers (including a signed Funko Pop). While the Timeless Voyager section costs just $99.
Buyers receive a variety of benefits by purchasing Shatner’s collectibles. These include the chance to have a 1-on-1 conversation with the star for 15 minutes, a voice message recorded by him or a physical item signed by the actor.
They also responded to fans’ environmental concerns on their website by saying, “Orange Comet is deeply committed to running on green servers and building a carbon negative solution. Earlier this year, Orange Comet partnered with Nori to help reduce carbon emissions from its blockchain projects.”
The announcement
For starters, Shatner said at Coindesk’s Consensus 2023 conference, “NFTs are slowly getting more artistic. Developed by Orange Comet, these are some of the most artistic I’ve ever seen. What we’re trying to do with these images is show the connection — the mathematical, romantic, stellar, quantum physics. The connection between all of this, and we think those philosophies are buried in those images.”
