The popular Bitcoin analyst and influencer Planb have recently demonstrated that he has moved his Bitcoin Holdings to ETFs, with reference to practical reasons for the decision. In a recent message on social media, Planb explained that managing Bitcoin via ETFs is easier and less stressful than handling private keys and offering a more convenient solution for him.
“I transferred my bitcoin to ETFs,” said Planb, and acknowledged the common cryptocurrency who said, “Not your keys, not your coins.” However, he explained that the use of ETFs for him is more like managing Bitcoin more like managing traditional assets such as shares and bonds.

ETFs and Bitcoin Adoption: a new era
For Planb, the shift from retaining physical bitcoin to the use of ETFs represents a practical evolution in how people can deal with Bitcoin as it becomes more mainstream. He believes that ETFs offer a less complex alternative and yet make exposure to the potential value of Bitcoin possible. As Bitcoin continues to grow in popularity, he sees ETFs as part of its broader acceptance – which makes investors an easier, more manageable way to deal with the assets without entering into the complexity of private key stores.
Tax implications and considerations
When asked how he could take this step without activating a tax event, Planb clarified the tax system in the Netherlands where he lives. He explained that the country has no power gain tax on realized profit. Instead, it has a non -realized capital gain tax, also called a wealth tax, which takes on a standard 6% return on the entire wealth of a person. This means that, instead of taxing the profit on specific assets, the government charges a percentage of the total net wealth of a person, who is approximately 2% for Planb annually.
He noticed this system, enables him to carry out transactions without making the worries to pay taxes on realized power gains, as long as he does not sell his assets in a taxable event.
