When the iPhone came out, there was a lot of chatter about gaming.
In short, people stared into their crystal balls and predicted that casual mobile gaming would take over the gaming industry.
It didn’t.
Sure, mobile gaming was an absolute hit (at least in terms of revenue), but it never replaced triple-a console gaming.
This was for the same reason straight-for-television movie making has never replaced blockbuster productions:
