Crypto gaming company Animoca Brands is adding Ubisoft’s upcoming NFT game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles to its Web3 Frequent Player Program, Animoca Brands announced Tuesday.
Animoca’s Frequent Player program is part of the NFT membership project called Mocaverse, where Moca ID owners can earn “Realm Points” by completing various participation-based tasks, according to the announcement.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab to increase awareness and ease user onboarding using the Mocaverse program and incentives,” said Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman from Animoca Brands, in a statement.
“We have been following Animoca Brands for some time and it is a pleasure for us to participate and support its consumer-focused execution by joining the Mocaverse program from its first season,” said Ubisoft VP, Strategic Innovation Lab Nicolas Pouard .

Moca IDs are blockchain-based identifiers that can be used across Animoca Brands’ portfolio of games and crypto projects. But Moca IDs will be limited, and only Mocaverse NFT holders are guaranteed an ID, according to an Animoca blog post. Otherwise, fans will need to get their hands on an invite code from an NFT owner to secure a Moca ID.
While more specific details about the partnership between Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab and Animoca have not yet been revealed, the Mocaverse will “collaborate, support and amplify” Ubisoft’s blockchain efforts.
This is Ubisoft’s second major partnership announcement with a crypto gaming company this month. Not even two weeks ago, Ubisoft and unchangeable announced that they are working together to build a crypto ‘gaming experience’, but did not reveal any further details.
Ubisoft is actively moving forward with the upcoming release of its first NFT-centric game, Champions tacticsand his first free coin is expected to begin next month. The Assassin’s Creed publisher has also continued to collaborate with crypto-metaverse company The Sandbox on NFT launches over the years, first with Ubisoft’s Rabbits IP last year until its announcement with Captain Laserhawk this week.
The companies have been linked for a while: Ubisoft was announced as an investor in Animoca Brands as part of a $65 million round announced in October 2021. Last September, Animoca raised $20 million specifically for Mocaverse, which is designed to support the various metaverse and gaming projects the company is involved in.
