The parents of the former Crypto Golden Boy Sam Bankman-Fried are said to take steps to obtain the grace of US President Donald Trump for their son.
With reference to a person who is familiar with the case, Bloomberg reports that in recent weeks the Stanford Law School professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried Advocaten and other figures near Trump met to discuss a potential claim for their son .
Sam Bankman-Fried was convicted of accusing the collapse of the FTX exchange, which he co-founder in 2019. He is currently being imprisoned.
Trump has granted supervisor to more than 1500 people who have been charged or convicted of criminal offenses since his return to the White House in January.
The President, who promised to implement Crypto reforms during his term of office, granted imprisoned Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht, who received strong support from the crypto industry and the libertarian movement.
Bankman-Grieduurd does not have the same level of support as that of Ulbricht, but his lawyers have previously argued that his sentence was draconic, because FTX customers recovered the initially lost funds.
The report says that former FTX director Ryan Salame, who has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison, is also looking for a grace.
