Just in time to celebrate May 4 (“May the ‘fourth’ be with you”), the so-called annual “Star Wars Day”, NFT startup Cryptoys announced on Thursday the imminent launch of digital collectibles based on the hugely popular entertainment franchise.
The Star Wars NFT collection, which will be released on May 24, is the latest in the Cryptoys pop culture “digital toy”, following on from the earlier Masters of the Universe collections with toy brand Mattel. Like previous collections, Cryptoys says the Star Wars NFTs will retail for $39.99.
The Cryptoys Star Wars NFTs include 15 limited edition “digital toys” of iconic characters from the series, including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Darth Vader. The NFTs are minted on the Flow blockchain, home to collecting platforms such as NBA Top Shot and NFL All Day.

Designed in five cartoonish, stylized skin designs, the NFTs will be available in “Common”, “Rare”, “Legendary”, “Grail” and “Ultra Grail” rarity levels in Star Wars inspired digital “holocrons” – or data storage devices from the popular sci-fi movie franchise. Each package is a “blind box”, meaning that buyers will not know which character they will receive until they open it.
Mattel Releases ‘Cryptoys’ NFTs on Flow Blockchain
“We’ve all been Star Wars fans since we were kids, so bringing Star Wars collectible digital toys to the Cryptoys platform is an absolute dream come true,” Will Weinraub, CEO and co-founder of Cryptoys parent company OnChain Studios, said in a statement.
NFTs are blockchain-based tokens that prove ownership of digital or physical assets. Other NFT pop culture collections include Game of Thrones, Godzilla vs. Kong, David Bowie and the Eternal Collection by Anthony Hopkins.
This isn’t the first set of Star Wars NFT collectibles, either. VeVe, a digital collecting platform featuring NFTs from various Disney and Marvel properties, has released several sets, including digital 3D models and digital posters and comic book covers.
