Decentralized oracle network Chainlink has announced that Soneium, an Ethereum L2 blockchain developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, has joined the Chainlink Scale program and will gain access to Chainlink data feeds on the Soneium Minato testnet. Chainlink data feeds are trusted by many companies such as Base, Starknet, and Sonic Labs (formerly known as the Fantom Foundation) and provide secure access to real-time data critical to the development of decentralized applications (dApps) on Soneium.
The strategic partnership also includes the integration of the Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as Soneium’s canonical cross-chain infrastructure. According to Jun WATANABE, President of Sony Block Solutions Labs, Chainlink’s reputation and reliability ensure that Soneium users will benefit from a reliable and secure platform. Watanabe believes Chainlink’s technology can help Soneium deliver a superior experience to its developers and end users.
Launching in August 2024, Soneium is part of Sony’s mission to make Web3 an everyday reality for billions of people. The platform aims to provide innovative solutions to real-world problems and promote the growth and maturity of the blockchain industry. The Chainlink Scale program aims to support the development of Layer 2 blockchains and ecosystems and has invited several blockchain ecosystems to participate in the initiative, including Avalanche, Metis and Starknet, to name a few.
