The Solana-based pipe network rewards users who offer bandwidth for testing the decentralized content-delivery system.
On 1 May, at the Token2049 conference in Dubai, Pipe Network Incentives announced for junction operators who contribute to the computing power. This infrastructure will be used to feed its decentralized content network for content built on Solana.
Dubbeds Pipequest, the reward program supports involvement in the Pipe Network Testnet. It will stimulate junction operators, community participation and network demand prior to the launch of the mainnet, planned for summer 2025.
Pipe Network wants to build internet on Solana
The ultimate goal of the initiative is to build a scalable ecosystem where users can share data, stream content and do everything they are currently doing online, but with the help of decentralized infrastructure, without trusting the expensive data centers run by large technology companies.

One of the most important advantages of the pipe network is that it makes it possible for almost every device to be converted into a point of presence junction. This means that owners of personal computers, laptops or even mobile devices can use inactive computing power to earn rewards and provide the network with electricity.
Moreover, the proximity of these smaller nodes to end users can reduce latency. In theory, this means faster ping times and faster content of content for users. David Rhodus, founder of permissionless Labs, the company behind Pipe Network, explained the benefits during the Token2049 event:

“We are pleased to make our test network available to the wider Solana community to show how a decentralized CDN can increase the bandwidth and reduce the latency that goes beyond what was possible with off-chain solutions,” David Rhodus, permissionless laboratories.
So far, the network has more than 200,000 POP nodes or individual devices on board. These devices were used to upload more than 200,000 files and to store a cumulative 250 terabytes of data.
