The Senate Committee for Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs has planned a crypto hearing next Wednesday to explore “Bipartisan legislative frameworks” for the digital assets sector.
The witnesses of the hearing will be Lewis Cohen, a crypto lawyer and partner at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP; Jonathan Jachym, the deputy General Counselor of Kraken and the global head of policy and government relationships; and Jai Massari, Chief Legal Officer of Lightspark.
Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), the new chairman of the banking committee, said earlier that setting up a digital asset framework was one of his top lawsing priorities for the 119th congress.
“Crypto has the potential to democratize the financial world. I look forward to working with President Trump, David Sacks and my colleagues in the congress to develop a regulatory framework for digital assets that encourages innovation here in the United States, not abroad. “
Earlier this month, Scott announced the establishment of a working group for digital assets consisting of members of the Senate bank committee, the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate and House Agriculture Committees.
“I love the concept that we see today with the administration, the house and the Senate-oriented on ourselves, but aimed at Americans of the working class who desperately lower their prices and increase their access [to financial services.] That is what the Bicameral Working Group will help tackle. “
