Okay, day 1 of the SBF trial is now over and behind us!
Here’s what you missed:
-
Judge Lewis Kaplan excused ten potential jurors after they indicated they had knowledge that would make it difficult for them to be fair.
(Not too surprising in a case of this size/notoriety).
-
SBF’s legal team tried to prevent FTX users and investors from testifying in the case.
Why? They cite parts of the Sixth Amendment (“the right to know who your accusers are and the nature of the charges and evidence against you”).
…but it’s most likely the fact that user/investor testimonials make SBF look bad, so they use whatever they can to block it.
This is what concerns us:
-
SBF’s (potential) handlebar mustache.
We’re just going by what we see in the artist’s courtroom image, so we could be wrong… but it looks like SBF has changed his appearance.
It’s got a big “Dad’s really been through something since Mom left” vibe.
It’s sad, but not in a way that might generate sympathy from a jury, you know?
