- Migrating Ronin Bridge to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) will improve security and offer a more robust Bruuger experience for asset transfer between Ethereum and Ronin.
- The CCIP bridge supports a wider range of tokens, including Weth, USDC, Pixel and AXS, while some tokens, such as WBTC and Lua, are not yet compatible.
After the launch of the migration from his Ronin Bridge to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), the Ronin network initiated an important upgrade with its switch to its cross-chain infrastructure. The aim of this transition is to offer a safer and less susceptible bridging experience to users who transfer assets across Ethereum to Ronin.
Everything about Ronin Bridge & Chainlink CCIP cooperation
Last year, Ronin validators voted to hire CCIP as the canonical bridge protocol of the network, which is an important step afterwards. After making the migration process, the world now migrates to Ronin and is prepared for the Legacy Bridge and the switch to the CCIP of Chainlink at the end of April.
With this upgrade, users can bridge a larger spectrum of tokens, including Weth, USDC, Pixel and AXS. Unfortunately, at this stage some of those tokens, such as WBTC, Lua and Luausd, are not yet supported by the CCIP bridge.
“The Ronin Bridge CCIP migration has started! Stronger bridge protection powered by Chainlink,” The Ronin Team written On X. The announcement also emphasized the possibility of bridging “Weth, USDC, Pixel, AXS and more.” Moreover, it added that the older Ronin Bridge will be officially outdated on April 21.
For further context, two active bridges will work at the same time after the migration period: Legacy Ronin Bridge and CCIP. The older bridge will be closed from 21 April and from 25 April the CCIP bridge will take over all cross chain functions. Moreover, Ronin Network said that all tokens that are still on the Legacy Bridge are automatically moved to CCIP by 24 and 25 April.
Last month, Ronin officially went live on OpenSea, so that the range was expanded than the exclusive platform for collective objects such as Axie Infinity. With the blockchain network, users can now exchange NFTs directly and mint on the world’s largest NFT marketplace, as stated in our previous report.
Call for action for developers and exchanges
Furthermore, the most important sentence in the article places the ball in the court of developers and exchanges to act quickly and to integrate CCIP into their systems. “We encourage you to grant Double Minter Rights to CCIP if you have not yet done so,” the network advised.
It is pre-eminently clear that this migration is intended to secure the bar for cross-chain activity on Ronin, the whole team said. The network sees CCIP as laying the foundation for adoption and interaction within Web3 ecosystems, because it supports interoperability in more than 46 networks.
“This alliance reinforces the connective tissue between our movement and other communities and brings builders closer to countless Web3 users,” wrote the Ronin team in their announcement.
Currently, users do not have to take action as the transition progresses. From April 21, however, all bridge activities must be carried out via CCIP, the end of the CCIP Legacy OD. That is why this step Ronin brings one step closer to a complete infrastructure shift to a safer and scalable future of the cross chain.
