The creator of a memecoin called $PSYOP has accused another individual of impersonating his token, while the token itself has been labeled a scam by an independent media studio.
The maker of $PSYOP says another token is a scam
Twitter user eth_ben (@ben.eth) said that another user named @3orovik has launched a separate $PSYOP token with the same name as his own.
On May 18wrote @ben.eth on Twitter:
“No token has been released yet. Everything else is a scam. Cool. About the go [liquidity pool] numbers now.”
Both @ben.eth and @3orovik said any hypothetical investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would find no transactions between them. Despite their concerns, no investigation appears to be underway.
$PSYOP itself has little content and profiles related to the token contain crude illustrations. As such, the asset has little integrity, regardless of the creator’s intentions.
Media studio denounces project
Separately, a media studio also called Psyop tried to distance itself from the token op May 16. It said it had no relation to @ben.eth’s token and said related spam accounts are “infringing [its] branded content to promote the counterfeit token.”
The media studio claimed that the $PSYOP token is a “top to bottom scam”. It also said it reported the token sale, although it did not say who it reported the sale to.
“We hope that everything will be removed as soon as possible,” the studio said.
There is no indication that @ben.eth intended the token to benefit the studio, which appears to be a small company itself. Still, the studio’s complaints have merit due to the token’s overall lack of integrity.
