The Polkadot Blockchain Academy (PBA) has announced an exciting addition to its educational offerings: PBA Remote. This new initiative will provide a fully remote learning experience for a select group of students in the upcoming cohort. Scheduled from May 20 to June 20, 2024, PBA Remote aims to break geographical barriers in blockchain education by allowing students to synchronously participate in lectures via livestream from the comfort of their own homes.

Historically, the Polkadot Blockchain Academy, founded in Cambridge in the summer of 2022, has emphasized the importance of personalized learning experiences. Following successful cohorts in Buenos Aires, Berkeley and Hong Kong, PBA has focused on providing a classroom-based educational environment with an emphasis on engagement, networking and collaboration between students.
However, recognizing the evolving education landscape and diverse needs of students worldwide, PBA has decided to expand its reach by introducing a remote learning option for the fifth wave in Singapore. This decision is in line with the academy’s commitment to inclusivity and its desire to attract top developer talent worldwide, regardless of their ability to travel.
However, the distance learning option will be exclusive to the Developers track and specifically targeted at individuals seeking in-depth knowledge and skills in blockchain technology. Prospective students interested in the more entrepreneurial aspects of the course must still attend in person.
A New Era of Blockchain Education
PBA Remote is designed to mimic the in-person experience as closely as possible. Remote students will participate in real-time lectures, participate in discussions and interact with both instructors and fellow students as if they were physically present in Singapore. This synchronous approach aims to ensure that all students, regardless of their location, receive a comprehensive and interactive learning experience.
Candidates for PBA Remote must pass a Rust-based entrance exam, which underlines the academy’s rigorous academic standards. The program maintains its high level of intensity and demands, ensuring that remote students are held to the same expectations and deadlines as their in-person counterparts. In addition to academic rigor, PBA Remote students will enjoy the same benefits as on-campus students, including tuition-free education, the prestigious Academy Certificate upon completion, and access to the Alumni Program designed to integrate graduates into the Polkadot ecosystem.
Applications for the remote program are now open, but must be submitted by April 5. This initiative represents a significant milestone for the Polkadot Blockchain Academy as it adapts to the changing needs of the global education landscape while maintaining its commitment to excellence in blockchain education. Prospective students can register early and prepare for an engaging and challenging learning journey with PBA Remote.
