The capital of Panama will start by accepting crypto payments for taxes and other city-related services. The payments will include Bitcoin [BTC]Ethereum [ETH]USD -Munt [USDC]and tether [USDT].
In an X (formerly Twitter) Post on April 15, mayor of Panama City, Mizrachi Matalon, stated”
“Citizens will now be able to fully pay tax, costs, tickets and permits in crypto, starting with BTC, ETH, USDC and USDT.”
The mayor noted That the crypto payments are directly converted into US dollars through partner banks without the need for extra crypto legislation.
He added that earlier administrations did not take over crypto payments, but the use of crypto-to-fiat-rails could help to circumvent this.
