Decentraland, the user-owned virtual platform, is gearing up for its annual music festival scheduled for November 2023. Building on the success of the past three years, the festival aims to present a wide range of live music events. The main attraction is scheduled from November 16 to 18. This year’s festival is themed ‘Rebirth & Regeneration’ and will provide a space for artists and the virtual community to come together in a creative Metaverse celebration.
Opportunities for artists and makers
Artists who wish to participate in this transformative experience can apply to participate in the main festival program. Selected artists are offered multiple incentives, such as a $500 grant, promotion in the festival’s official program, and a spot to perform on one of the festival’s five virtual stages. As for requirements, artists will be required to deliver a pre-recorded performance created exclusively for Decentraland Music Festival ’23.
Further, makers can submit proposals for 3D installations, games, experiences or performance spaces to be integrated into the festival’s digital square. Those with selected proposals will be eligible to receive a $1000 grant, a 2 x 2 parcel of LAND in Decentraland’s Music Festival Plaza, and a Decentraland NAME, giving them access to additional virtual land for future installations. All proposed works will be mentioned in the official program of the festival.
No entry fees are required for these entries and the deadlines for these opportunities are as follows:
- Submission deadline: September 30, 2023
- Selected proposals announced: October 6, 2023
- All files must be submitted by October 25, 2023
Priority will be given to proposals that resonate with this year’s theme: ‘Rebirth and Regeneration’.
Decentraland Music Festival as a virtual cultural epicenter
The Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival saw major growth last year compared to the previous year, with more than 200 music artists participating – more than double the number from the previous year. The line-up consisted of big names from different genres, including Björk, Ozzy Osbourne, Souljaboy, Dillon Francis, Atarashii Gakko!, Breland, Izzu Bizu and Akira the Don, among others. In addition, numerous members of the Decentraland community participated in the event.
The Decentraland Music Festival has become a notable event in the virtual world, bringing together nearly 300 international artists over its three-year history. This year’s event aims to promote the festival’s core values of “radical self-expression, communal growth and artistic innovation,” according to the official press release. By providing an accessible platform for established and emerging talents, the festival aims to foster a community-oriented ethos and broaden the scope of artistic expression in the metaverse.
