Turn the “OOOFT-O-METER” to eleven:
Some internal passwords and highly sensitive code from the world’s largest crypto exchange. Binancewas quietly leaked on Github on January 5.
…and – wait for it – has been publicly visible for the past month.
Binance has since had the repository removed, stating that the information:
“So outdated that it would be unusable by third parties or malicious actors.”
Either way, this doesn’t look good – nor does it help build trust in centralized exchanges, which continue to decline after FTX.
In any case, this is a good reminder for all of us:
Don’t store your crypto on centralized exchanges for long periods of time.
(Cold storage is the way).
