A Ethereum NFT trading card based on NBA rookie star Victor Wembanyama sold for more than $110,000 on Thursday, apparently surpassing the record sales for one of his physical trading cards.
Published by Sorare NBA, an officially licensed fantasy basketball game, the single-edition “Unique” digital trading card of San Antonio Spurs player Wembanyama – this year’s first pick in the NBA draft – finally sold for 61,182 ETHor approximately $110,120 at the time the auction ended.

Sorare was launched in 2019 with its original fantasy football game, which remains the biggest draw, and has since launched league-specific contests with the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball. Each game includes NFT trading cards that players can use in-game to build their lineups, earning rewards such as cryptocurrency and additional NFTs.
Between its platforms, Sorare has generated more than $713 million in NFT sales to date, according to data from CryptoSlam. The company last raised a $680 million Series B financing round in 2021, valuing Sorare at $4.3 billion.
Sorare NBA’s record NFT sales came back in February, when an NFT based on Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo sold for 113.9 ETHor worth about $187,000 at the time.
