Bee Maps, a project about Hivemapper, one of the largest decentralized physical infrastructure networks (Depin) aimed at mapping data on Solana, shared on Wednesday that it collaborated with Rit-Hailing Gigantic Lyft to provide them more accurately.
The move underlines the growing role of crowdsourced geospatial intelligence in the transport industry and signals that companies are turning to this type of infrastructure for better maps for sharing journeys.
With bee cards, drivers can contribute to mapping data using AI-compatible Dash-Naks that automatically detect real-time changes on roads and update them-such as building zones or changed traffic signs-to-digital cards up-to-date and accurate.
“For mobility to actually work and for autonomy to become reality, maps cannot be a side issue, they must be crowdsourced, live, accurate and open,” said Ariel Seidman, CEO and co-founder of Bee Maps, in a press release with Coinsk. “We are proud to arm a real innovator like Lyft with the constantly updated spatial intelligence at street level that makes their vision possible.”
Bee Maps is part of the growing Depin movement (decentralized physical infrastructure networks), which uses blockchain stimuli to crowdsourcing the development of real-world infrastructure. In the case of Bee Maps, contributors earn crypto rewards for collecting images at street level using Hivemapper cameras. This data is processed with AI to extract important functions – such as road signs, lane markings and building zones – that are constantly updated on the platform.
The move between Lyft and bee cards comes as Natix, a different Depin Mapping project on Solana, shared that it cooperates with Taxi service, to offer better mapping technologies.
