LINE NEXT, the Web3 arm of LINE Corporation, has partnered with the Kaia DLT Foundation, the platform promoting the Kaia Layer-1 (L1) blockchain, to create a suite of ‘Mini Dapps’ (decentralized applications) and a Dapp Portal on LINE to launch Messenger in 2025, according to information shared with Finbold on Thursday, December 12.
New decentralized applications on the messaging platform are expected to make Web3 services more accessible to users.
The Kaia Wave program
Under the Kaia Wave program, LINE NEXT and Kaia Foundation have selected 30 notable DeFi projects from more than 800 applicants.
These include popular entries such as Bombie And Shin-chan’s match dailyas well as other notable Dapps such as Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS- And Super z.
Youngsu Ko, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at LINE NEXT, commented on the team’s plan to introduce the widest range of Web3 Dapps to the messenger:
“LINE NEXT aims to increase access to Web3 services from the perspective of both Internet and Web3 users and developers. We plan to introduce the largest number of Web3 Dapps and expand our user base, especially in the key LINE Messenger countries Japan, Thailand and Taiwan.”
Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, also highlighted the partnership’s potential to accelerate Web3 adoption both in Asia and globally:

LINE Messenger Dapp portal
The Dapp Portal allows users to explore, download and use Web3 Dapps directly within LINE Messenger, with some additional features for trading virtual assets and rewards for their use.
To help support developers in the ecosystem, LINE NEXT and Kaia will provide software development kits (SDKs) and fee delegation, and assist potential projects with marketing investment resources.
The two partners plan to onboard more than 150 additional developer teams before the end of 2024.
