Sony’s Blockchain Division brings the Japanese social media gigantic line to the web3 world, with plans to adjust various popular mini apps to Sony’s Seneium network, the company announced on Wednesday.
Line reports approximately 200 million active users on its platform, and the agreement will bring four line-based games, or “mini apps”, to Soneium: Sleepagotchi, Farm Frens, Puffy Match and Pocket Mob. The integration is intended to facilitate functions such as in-game rewards and purchases.
Soneium is mainly managed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint program between Sony and Singapore based Startale Labs. SBSL considers the partnership to “go beyond” transcending boundaries, so that users can experience the benefits of web3 without friction, “said a statement shared with Coindesk.
“Line has built up a strong presence and integrating successful mini apps in the Soneium ecosystem is the next step in the direction of making Soneium more accessible,” said Junaanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs. “We believe that this collaboration will stimulate involvement and adoption in ways that were previously difficult to reach.”
Soneium went live in January, and at the time the team said they hoped to bridge web2 users in the web3 room. The blockchain is a low-2 on top of Ethereum that uses the optimism in the packing technology. According to L2 Beat, it is currently locked on a total value as the 15th largest Layer-2 network.
