IRCTC’s latest announcement marked a significant moment for the Indian digital asset sector as the Indian Railways officially embraced the NFT domain. In a festive nod to Holi, IRCTC introduced vibrant NFT tickets for two Tejas trains connecting Delhi and Lucknow.
IRCTC will be releasing NFT tickets for Holi celebrations
IRCTC unveiled a sneak peek of these NFTs through its official X-handle. These NFTs will feature intricate sketches that showcase the rich heritage of Delhi and Lucknow against a vibrant backdrop. Moreover, passengers of Tejas trains numbered 82501 and 82502 will have access to these NFTs from March 20, adding a unique dimension to their journey.
Moreover, IRCTC announced that the NFT train ticket initiative is scheduled to last until April 2. Elaborating on the significance of these NFTs, IRCTC stated, “These tickets are not just digital souvenirs.” Additionally, the potential benefits of acquiring these NFT tickets were hinted at.
In the X-post, IRCTC added: “They [NFT Tickets] symbolize our commitment to enriching your travel experiences, allowing you to personalize your travel memories with your own photos and enjoy exclusive offers from carefully selected brands.”
So far, IRCTC has not clarified whether these NFT tickets will be free for all ticket buyers or whether they will require an additional fee. Furthermore, the details of ‘select brand’ offers and other benefits are still under wraps.

Indian Railways has been actively exploring blockchain technology, evidenced by the distribution of NFTs as digital memories. Earlier this year, IRCTC offered NFT tickets for travel to Ayodhya, presenting them as more than just travel documents, but as cherished souvenirs of divine experiences.
“More than just a ticket to Ayodhya Dham – a souvenir of the divine Shree Ramotsav. Cherish the pious memories of the advent of Lord Shree Rama forever, with Blockchain NFT,” IRCTC wrote through a dedicated platform while announcing Ayodhya NFT tickets.
Moreover, the National Academy of Indian Railways collaborated with Polygon in March the previous year. The partnership was entered into to organize a workshop aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of blockchain in railway operations.
