In just two years, BAYC has become one of the most recognizable brands in any NFT collection. Being the “most lucrative” project in the NFT ecosystem, you almost certainly won’t be able to buy BAYC NFT for less than six figures for most of 2022.
Nevertheless, “buy low, sell high” is not the only method of earning from the NFT ecosystem, which may (or may not) surprise some, as we can benefit from IP through BAYC. Next, let’s look at some of the ways “Bored Ape” BAYC NFT holders can commercialize the IP.
F&B
Universe of food fighters
When it comes to BAYC’s culinary footprint, there is perhaps no bigger brand than what the Food Fighters Universe has developed. Food Fighters have made a name for themselves in the business with Bored & Hungry, a fast food restaurant that employs four BAYC NFTs as brand “ambassadors”.
When you’re bored and hungry, a Bored Ape Yacht Club themed NFT restaurant of the same name offers a unique dining experience! The menu, cuisine, decor, floor and exterior are all themed around the legendary BAYC. This California-based burger restaurant, which opened in 2022, went viral for a reason.
Bored and Hungry is the first true restaurant with a BAYC motif. In reality, the new location is a burger-only restaurant in Long Beach, California. Interestingly, this facility started as a temporary pop-up, but its instant popularity turned it into a permanent site.
Bored and Hungry, as the name implies, now offers a true Bored Ape experience that is everything about boring!
The design of the restaurant is reminiscent of the precise features of the legendary BAYC bar seen on the project’s website. This is an immersive experience, with hand-drawn ghosts on the walls, anchors, and signs like “FOMO” or “FUD Destroyer.” In reality, the glass entrance walls are covered in green slime, a clear homage to the Mutant Ape Yacht Club.
Food Fighters has also participated in a number of BAYC inspired culinary events since the start of Bored & Hungry. Dr. Bombay’s Sweet Exploration (a sweet joint with Snoop Dogg) and Bored Taco are two of the most recent and well-known dishes based on BAYC (a joint venture with Web3 architect and founder of the Champ Medici crypto fund).
Bored Wine Co.
NFT supporters raised their glasses as BAYC holders were eligible to invest in a case of custom wine from WiV’s initiative, the Bored Wine Co. They claim to offer BAYC members the opportunity to expand their organizations’ reach in the world of fine wine and help a hand-picked group of wine producers attract new audiences.
Bored Wine Co. is a wine company that allows owners of BAYC NFT to put their name on six different types of wine bottles. Conclusion
BAYC grants its first 10,000 NFT holders all commercial rights to the NFT without any restrictions, which means that unlike other license-based NFT series, which typically limit income to $100,000 per year, BAYC holders can use their IP benefits can fully use it to generate huge profits.
Creators of all types seem to be looking for ways to monetize BAYC without actually contributing — only Yuga Labs, the company that founded the initiative. Still, people active in the BAYC ecosystem, especially those with Bored Apes, are looking for new and exciting ways to monetize the IP of the NFTs they own.
