Guernsey Post, the postal service for the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, will become the first postal operator in the British Isles to introduce crypto stamps, combining traditional stamp collecting with digital non-fungible tokens (NFTs). These limited edition non-postage stamps will be launched later this month and feature the Golden Guernsey Goats, Billy and Nanny. For each physical stamp, a corresponding digital twin is stored on the blockchain, accessible via a QR code. Bridget Yabsley, head of Guernsey Stamps and Collectables, expressed her excitement about entering the digital market, aiming to attract both traditional stamp collectors and digital enthusiasts. The partnership with Stampfinity aims to expand their audience and strengthen the global community of collectors. The physical stamps will feature a traditional design, while their digital counterparts will feature modern, abstract art styles. The NFTs will have varying levels of rarity, adding an element of surprise and exclusivity for collectors.
