Former President Donald Trump announces the launch date of World Liberty Financial, his new decentralized finance (DeFi) crypto project.
In a new video update posted on the social media platform X, the Republican presidential candidate say that his DeFi platform – which he previously said is aimed at helping people disenfranchised by the traditional banking system – will launch on Monday, September 16.
Trump says,
“Join us live on Twitter Spaces on September 16 at 8 p.m. for the launch of World Liberty Financial. We embrace the future with crypto and leave the slow and outdated big banks behind.”
Earlier this month, the project issued a statement on its roadmap, saying its mission is to spread stablecoins pegged to the US dollar and the concept of decentralized finance around the world.
World Liberty Financial believes that stablecoins are at the heart of DeFi and says it wants to ensure that US dollar-pegged digital assets remain the global settlement layer for DeFi protocols.
“Our mission is crystal clear: make crypto and America great by driving the mass adoption of stablecoins and decentralized finance. We believe that DeFi is the future and we want to make it accessible and secure for everyone.
By spreading US-pegged stablecoins around the world, we are ensuring the dominance of the US dollar continues, securing America’s financial leadership and influence on the global stage.”
The project also noted that it is working closely with cybersecurity companies and prominent DeFi platform Aave (AAVE) to achieve its goals. Trump initially announced the project’s launch in August. At the time it was known as The DeFiant Ones.
