MeetKai, a metaverse and conversational AI leader, has announced a partnership with Tripadvisor, one of the world’s largest travel guidance platforms. This collaboration aims to enable travel enthusiasts to remotely explore destinations around the world through immersive metaverse experiences. MeetKai also unveiled its upcoming series of metaverse launches and enhancements to its Generative AI platform, which are the result of five years of research and development.
Tripadvisor: Tourism through Virtual Reality
Tripadvisor’s partnership with MeetKai marks the direction of virtual tourism, aiming to bring global travel experiences to users’ homes via mobile or desktop devices. The metaverse project, launching later this year, will include interactive experiences that mimic real-life travel. Tripadvisor plans to create digital versions of popular tourist spots by partnering with travel agencies and companies. The project could let travelers explore new places in VR before actually booking their trips.
In Rome, imagine virtual replicas of the Colosseum or the winding streets of Trastevere, offering travelers insight into possible tours they can experience. Or imagine a digital recreation of quaint cafes and bustling markets, capturing the essence of the city’s famous culinary and shopping scenes. While it’s not a substitute for the real thing, it can give users an idea of what to expect when visiting famous locations.
Since 2022, Tripadvisor, a leading travel and tourism website, has gathered a billion user reviews and ratings, which cover a wide range of listings including hotels, restaurants, vacation rentals and attractions.
Digital twins are revolutionizing virtual experiences
The use of digital twins, exact digital replicas of physical entities that are updated in real time with integrated data, is central to these virtual experiences. Beyond tourism, digital twins have broader applications, including urban planning and improving public services. For example, Seoul, South Korea, is developing a metaverse platform that uses digital twins to improve public services such as transportation and emergency reporting.
NBPA’s Metaverse: Player Recommendations and Virtual Meetings
MeetKai presented its latest virtual experiences at CES 2024, offering participants immersive walkthroughs using VR headsets and browser-based devices. These demonstrations highlighted MeetKai’s newly released generative AI technology to meet practical business needs and increase user engagement in digital spaces.
Also announced that THINK450, the partner and innovation engine of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), is teaming up with MeetKai to develop an immersive virtual shopping experience in the metaverse. By using MeetKai’s AI-enabled, digital twin technology, a digital replica of “The Brotherhood Deli”, a personal pop-up store for fans of the NBPA will be created.
The virtual store will feature player-approved brands, limited-edition merchandise, virtual meet-and-greets with players, content lounges, gamified competitions and more. This metaverse world will be previewed by MeetKai later this winter, offering a never-before-seen teaser of the coming experience.
MeetKai’s journey since last year’s CES, including the introduction of Meet Kai Reality and collaborations with key players like Sony Pictures and the Charlotte Hornets have catapulted their AI and metaverse technologies to the forefront
