The Elderberry upgrade is now live on Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta, signaling a notable improvement in the network’s capabilities. The infrastructure providers will have to update the new versions of node and prover. The step has been taken in favor of the mass adoption of Web3.
Elderberry comes with essential ROM maximizations that help reduce specific out-of-counter errors on the network. Certain corrections have been added to the new Etrog upgrade.
It can be compared to Ethereum’s EVM interpreter, which interprets the execution logic of transactions. Moreover, it also interprets opcodes for Polygon zkEVM.
Now that the Elderberry is being positioned live, framework builders need to follow a few steps to use the upgrade effectively. Infra-dev users need the latest version of the bridge service, prover, and node. However, the dApp builders on the network don’t have to worry. From the end user’s point of view, all functions remain the same.
Tests were performed on Polygon zkEVM Cardona Testnet prior to implementation. Users can expect a smooth transition.
In February, the 10-day time slot for the Polygon zkEVM Mainnet upgrade was announced and closed on March 7. The time slot was given to users if they wanted to withdraw funds before the implementation of the upgrade.
