Decentraland is organizing an Ugly Sweater Competition just in time for the holidays. The competition challenges makers to create unique versions of the traditional Ugly Christmas Sweater. These wearables are eligible for prizes and advertisements on Decentraland’s social pages. Registrations start on December 1 and run until December 19.
Who can participate?
Anyone can participate in the competition. All you have to do is make an ugly Christmas sweater, publish it on Decentraland’s Marketplace and submit your wearable using the official Decentraland Ugly Sweater form. The contest will run until December 19th at 07:00 UTC and the winners will be notified by email shortly after.
In addition, the first place winner will take home 800 MANA. The second through tenth place winners will receive 600 MANA each. Now that’s spreading some Christmas cheer!
Why the Ugly Sweater Contest?
The aim of the competition is to reimagine the traditional Christmas sweater. By removing the typical limitations of real-world design, creators have the opportunity to do something completely unique. Most Christmas sweaters are made from fabrics such as yarn and decorated with embellishments such as pompoms. Decentraland asks makers to imagine what they could do with Blender instead.
What creations can you come up with when the possibilities are truly limitless?
How does Decentraland give back?
The Ugly Sweater Contest is one of Decentraland’s ways to give back to the community this holiday season. Creators have the option to reimagine a classic for the metaverse. In addition, those who are in the Top 10 will have their work displayed all over Decentraland. If anything, the contest serves as a radical way to generate new ideas about pushing the boundaries of fashion in the metaverse.
