Authentic fan engagement
Cryptocurrency exchange Okx and English football club Manchester City have launched commemorative football shirts that can be minted as digital collectibles or non-fungible tokens (NFTs). According to a statement, fans of Manchester City, the reigning English champions, can snag the digital collectible ‘Unseen City Shirts’ from April 22 to 25.
The collectibles, also known as “The Roses and The Bees,” will be released on the Okx marketplace. Each example is randomly assigned a rarity level: classic, rare or ultra-rare, the statement said. Fans who mint the digital collectibles will have a chance to win physical Manchester City shirts, match tickets and a play-on-pitch experience.
Haider Rafique, the chief marketing officer at Okx, commented on his company’s latest highlight in a relationship that began in March 2022. He said:
As an Official Partner of Manchester City since 2022, we want to capture the imagination and ignite the passions of the club’s global fans, many of whom are curious about the value Web3 can bring to their lives. The ‘Unseen City Shirts’ campaign allows us to engage them in an authentic way that is true to Okx’s values, by taking something familiar and reinventing it using creativity, technology and innovation.
Nuria Tarré, the chief marketing officer of an English football club, said her organization has incorporated the metaverse and Web3 into its innovative technology strategy. This strategy is used to connect with Manchester City’s global fan base. Tarré added that by partnering with the cryptocurrency exchange, the club will “continue to deliver unique, creative and innovative activations.”
As explained in the statement, Okx’s partnership with Manchester City expanded in July 2022 when the cryptocurrency exchange was named the football club’s official training kit partner for the 2022-2023 season. In June of the previous year, Okx also became the official sleeve partner of Manchester City.
