The policy chief of the largest US-based crypto exchange by trading volume is backing Kamala Harris’ efforts to work with the digital asset industry.
In response to a Bloomberg article reporting that the Harris campaign is looking to expand crypto, Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad says he has joined the Harris campaign for policy discussions.
“I have enjoyed participating in a number of conversations with the Harris team.
I greatly appreciate their constructive approach and their focus on promoting innovation, jobs and consumer protection in the US.
The dialogue was an important first step, and Brian Nelson’s statement is an encouraging second step in the right direction.”
According to the Bloomberg report, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign will focus on supporting policies to expand the crypto industry, recognizing the growing influence of the digital asset sector while seeking to separate itself from Biden’s crypto campaign policy.
Brian Nelson, senior campaign adviser, said during a Bloomberg News roundtable at the Democratic National Convention:
“She’s going to support policies that ensure emerging technologies and those types of industries can continue to grow.”
The news comes a week after Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire called on Harris to make her stance on crypto assets clear.
