On December 20, 2023, the Cardano Foundation announced a major initiative in blockchain education, in partnership with Petrobras, the Brazilian state energy giant. This partnership marks the first time that Petrobras will utilize the Cardano Foundation’s blockchain education program, with the aim of improving the understanding and adoption of blockchain technologies.
Petrobras, officially known as Petróleo Brasileiro SA, is a Brazilian multinational in the petroleum industry. It is a state-controlled company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Petrobras is one of the largest oil and gas producers in the world and plays an important role in Brazil’s energy sector.
The company is involved in the exploration, production, refining and distribution of oil and gas. It operates oil refineries, oil tankers and an extensive network of pipelines. Petrobras has a significant presence in the global oil market and is known for its expertise in deep and ultra-deep water oil production.
Under this partnership, the Cardano Foundation will provide blockchain education workshops for Petrobras employees. These workshops use content from the Cardano Academy, delivered through Petrobras University. The program is designed to explore the potential of blockchain, its diverse applications and use cases. Participants will take part in interactive quizzes and discussions, deepening their understanding of blockchain technology.
The initiative kicked off with two workshops in the Metaverse, focusing on the regulatory aspects of blockchain, both globally and within the Brazilian context. This innovative approach underlines the program’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.
The Cardano Academy, developed by the Cardano Foundation, is a blockchain education program. It serves as a reliable source for those who are eager to understand the potential of blockchain technology.
For Petrobras, the content of the Academy will be adapted to its employee training programs, which will benefit more than 40,000 employees. Upon completion of the course, employees will receive a certificate in blockchain training.
Adding to the program’s appeal, the first 500 Petrobras participants in the Cardano Academy will receive a unique NFT. Developed in collaboration with the Petrobras Education Board, this NFT will evolve to reflect participants’ progress and performance throughout the training.
The Cardano Foundation views the partnership with Petrobras as a stepping stone to broader initiatives. These initiatives aim to increase understanding of blockchain through employee training and exploring new applications of the technology in the energy sector.
Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, commented on the partnership and emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to empowerment through education. He noted the importance of partnering with Petrobras, a Fortune 500 company, and highlighted the growing interest in blockchain education among enterprises and the growing influence of the Cardano Foundation.
Petrobras echoed these sentiments, recognizing the partnership as a bold step in leveraging blockchain technology for new use cases within the energy sector. They emphasized the crucial role of education in this innovative partnership, in line with their mission to harness the power of blockchain in the energy industry.
