Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong will discuss Decentralized Science (DeSci) at the Sora Summit, a Web3 conference organized by Sora Ventures, slated for later this year.
Armstrong, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency industry, is actively promoting DeSci through his co-founded startup, ResearchHub. This platform enables researchers to openly share their work and earn cryptocurrency rewards for advancing scientific knowledge.
The Coinbase CEO will be joined by notable experts, including Patrick Joyce, co-founder and COO of ResearchHub, and Jason Fang, managing partner of Sora Ventures. They will delve into the future prospects of this emerging subsector and its pivotal role in the development of Web3.
Additionally, two-panel discussions would further enlighten the audience on the subject, and a DeSci meetup will convene at the Sora Ventures headquarters in Taipei, facilitating insightful conversations among industry stakeholders.
Beyond DeSci, other critical topics for the summit also include NFT utility, DeFi infrastructure, and developments within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
The Sora Summit, set for Dec. 16, will cap Taipei’s Blockchain Week. The event boasts a lineup of more than 100 speakers, and over 1,000 attendees are expected.
DeSci
DeSci, an emerging facet of Web3, centers on open-sourcing funding for scientific research and development. This approach safeguards researchers’ independence as they pursue scientific endeavors.
DeSci leverages Web3 principles like decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and tokenization to entice investors. They come together to back various scientific projects, with the promise of rewards upon the successful realization of these missions.
While DeSci remains a relatively nascent field, it has already captured the attention of Web3 venture capital firms like Sora Ventures and other prominent investors.
