Book.io brings one of the most banned books of all time through Algorand’s decentralized network. According to the announcement from the Algorand Foundation, they have teamed up with the leading marketplace for non-fungible tokens to bring the digital copy of Brave New World.
It is said that a total of 10,000 copies will be distributed to Consensus 2023 attendees through a voucher. This in turn is believed to improve the ecosystem of the world’s famous Layer-1 blockchain. It can be redeemed to get your hands on the eCopy of Aldous Huxley’s 1932 classic.
Web3 comes out as a technology with productive utility. Brave New World debuted in the digital world and made it clear that decentralized distribution can work wonders by eliminating the middlemen. They have had the power to ban any book or any other artistic material at their discretion. Partnerships such as Book.io and Algorand Foundation are working toward transferring full ownership to the holder of the NFT.
That aspect is also crucial because it differentiates Book.io’s service from other internet sellers. In stark contrast, generic Internet book sellers only grant the license to purchase and view the digital version of the book. Book.io and Algorand Foundation distinguish themselves by giving full ownership to the holder of the eBook.
Brave New World will be on the decentralized channel, courtesy of Decentralized Encrypted Assets – DEA. The technology used does not use centralized servers and only allows the owners to view the encrypted file of the eBook.
Ben Illian, the co-founder of Book.io, has highlighted the reasons why the company chose Alogrand for the partnership. Ben says Algorand Foundation was chosen for its lower transaction costs and near-zero carbon footprint. Two other factors that have been instrumental in facilitating this collaboration are scalability and alignment in terms of ethos.
Ben believes that books should be immutable, unchanging and live forever around the world.
The partnership will help Book.io achieve its mission by ensuring that no central authority is involved to censor or ban the book. Staci Warden of the Algorand Foundation has said it’s appropriate for the Foundation to help Book.io in its efforts because it aligns with Web3’s core concept.
It argues that technology allows knowledge to come from anywhere, so that everyone has unrestricted access to it. The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer has also expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership while ensuring a secure decentralized network. The Algorand future can be unpredictable amidst the increasing volatility in the crypto market, but interesting partnerships like this could gain more support from the community.
Vouchers for Brave New World NFT will be distributed to Consensus 2023 participants from April 26, 2023 to April 28, 2023. The event will be live in Austin, Texas.
