The CEO and co-founder of the popular blockchain-based metaverse platform The Sandbox (SAND) has just fallen victim to bad actors who have breached his Twitter account.
The Sandbox CEO Arthur Madrid tells his followers that his Twitter account was recently hacked.
He also says that people should be be careful when clicking on links, especially if they don’t use The Sandbox’s official domain name.
“My Twitter was hacked today. and now it’s back. Never click on a link promoting airdrop or URL that looks SCAMMY – and not 100% with our correct and unique URL/domain name: http://sandbox.game.com.”
The sandpit say the perpetrators made it look like the platform was distributing SAND tokens to direct people to a site that could put their personal and financial information at risk.
“Our CEO and co-founder Arthur Madrid’s Twitter account has been hacked. The hacker posts a scam/phishing link for a fake airdrop of SAND tokens.”
The Sandbox urges users not to click on the suspicious link and to report the post. The company also says it is working to remove the fraudulent website.
“DO NOT click the link and instead report the message so it will be blocked. We are working to take the site offline and fix it as soon as possible.”
SAND is trading at $0.53, up 2.94% in the past 24 hours.
