Things are getting interesting on Avalanche (AVAX) lately. While NFT trading efforts over the past year have largely focused on Ethereum, Solana, Tezos, and Bitcoin, the nascent Proof-of-Stake blockchain network has been making strides in the NFT space with significant developments.
Web3 first got a glimpse of what was happening at AVAX with the announcement of Avaissance, a new initiative created to incubate the next generation of digital artists. At the beginning of May, the full scope of the Avaissance Artist in Residence (AIR) program will be honored was announcedrevealing a roster of 75 prominent emerging artists, including Latasha, Downs and Cities, Emily Lazarand more.
The lead mentorship for the AIR participants will consist of prominent Web3 figures Dave Krugman, Emonee LaRussa, John LeGeorgio”GEOConstantine, and Ryan Wen. The full list of 75 artists is divided into ‘camps’ led by each mentor. But that’s not the only thing AVAX users should be excited about.
Coming soon to Avalanche
Riding on the hype surrounding Avaissance, a number of new Avalanche partnerships have been unveiled in parallel. In particular, established art powerhouse Superchief Gallery is gearing up to launch its own unique NFT marketplace on the Avalanche platform.
The Superchief NFT marketplace aims to meet the needs of artists by providing a platform built “by and for creators”, and will serve to support the extensive Web2 and Web3 art communities that Superchief has built over the past decade. has cultivated, to connect with each other. About the collaboration, Edward Zipcoco-founder and director of Superchief Gallery, noted that he thinks it could be an important win for artists looking to build on Avalanche.
“We at Superchief Gallery NFT are incredibly excited to launch our Superchief NFT Marketplace and build a home for creative culture within the Avalanche ecosystem,” said Zipco. “We think there’s an important opportunity to bring the best artists to the table and help them take root and develop on Avalanche.”
In the same vein, the limited edition non-transactional NFT sharing platform Zero one has partnered with Ava Labs – a company committed to making it easy to deploy high-performance Web3 solutions on Avalanche – to develop software that enhances blockchain culture and extends its reach.
Commentary on the collaboration, co-founder of Zeroone Shivani Mitra emphasized the importance of ownership in light of developments such as AI. “At a time when artists are increasingly concerned about the need to protect their IP amid AI and other technological advancements, ownership is becoming increasingly important to creativity and the growing attention economy,” she said in a press release.
What’s next?
Avalanche is finalizing its new catalog of collaborative efforts and has also partnered with Legitimate, a company that specializes in merging physical and digital experiences through its “phygital” infrastructure. The collaboration aims to synchronize ownership between physical products and their corresponding digital identities in the chain through Legitimate’s “Locked NFT Protocol”.
As part of this partnership, Avalanche and Legitimate will release exclusive phygital merchandise at all official Avalanche events. The initiative kicked off with the release of 100 exclusive phygital t-shirts and hoodies at Avalanche Summit II.
As interest in and innovation on the Avalanche blockchain continues to grow, the recent partnerships and platform for artists and NFTs only add to the expansion potential.
