Arbitrum, a leading layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, has made significant progress in improving its ecosystem by announcing a full integration with Farcaster, the decentralized social networking protocol.
This development means that Arbitrum transactions are now fully supported on Farcaster, expanding the reach for developers and users within both communities. This integration is being celebrated with the launch of ‘Frame It’, a buildathon aimed at promoting innovative developments within the ecosystem.
The “Frame It” buildathon is designed to encourage developers to create “Frames”: modular, interactive components that can be embedded into Farcaster’s social platform. With a substantial incentive of $500,000 in retroactive rewards, the initiative is poised to attract a wide range of developers.
The buildathon will allow participants to leverage the robust capabilities of Arbitrum and Farcaster’s growing user base of more than 350,000 accounts and 59 million casts, as reported by farcaster.network, to innovate and expand the usability of both platforms.
Buildathon details and reward structure
Arbitrum has allocated a total of $500,000 to fund the development of Frames, with $450,000 earmarked for the ‘Frame It’ event and an additional $50,000 earmarked for in-person events such as Frameathons, meetups and workshops.
The first of these events will be a Frameathon in New York City, offering $20,000 in prizes to participants who develop the most innovative Frames. More details about this event will be announced soon.
Participants in “Frame It” will have the opportunity to have their Frames appear in casts from Arbitrum’s main account on Warpcast, a platform designed to improve visibility and interaction within the Farcaster community.
Developers are encouraged to be creative and consider building a variety of applications, from NFT minters and token deployers to integrating existing DeFi apps into Frames. The goal is to explore new possibilities and create unique applications that have not been seen before.
We’re happy to announce that @farcaster_xyz has just integrated its largest blockchain community to date; Arbitration!
To celebrate this integration we organize:

Eligibility and reward distribution
To qualify for the retroactive rewards, developers must ensure that their Frames have an on-chain component that resides on the Arbitrum One network.
Additionally, Frames that provide the tooling or infrastructure that supports Arbitrum are eligible, as well as Frames deployed on the Arbitrum Nova and Arbitrum Orbit chains. It is critical that these Frames are original and do not replicate existing frames to maintain the uniqueness and innovation that the buildathon aims to promote.
Arbitrum has explained that it may take up to four weeks to review each Frame to determine its eligibility for the retroactive rewards. The amount allocated to each Frame will vary based on several factors, including the chain and social impact of the Frame and the remaining budget of the initial allocation. This approach ensures that rewards are distributed fairly and in a way that reflects the value each Frame brings to the ecosystem.
This initiative by Arbitrum and Farcaster not only improves the functionality and interactivity of both platforms, but also paves the way for future collaborations and innovations in the decentralized space.
