The election officially closed on June 28 at 6 p.m. PT. The race was dynamic, characterized by frequent and rapid changes in the standings that occurred on a daily basis, making it difficult to determine the future winner.

There were originally 21 nominees for the election, with two rounds of voting. The first round, held from June 15 to June 21, narrowed down the nominees to five finalists. Round two, which took place from June 22 to June 28, further narrowed it down to the top two finalists.
The top five candidates for the Special Council were Captain Trippy, doorswickie, Waabam_eth, nonthreadguyAnd karma bag. The DAO’s Governance Working Group Stewards finalists were All CityBAYC, tiger is fine, NFTSasha, SSPnftAnd 0xSword.

The level of intrigue surrounding the race not only emanates from Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) members, but also extends to individuals outside of these communities. Anyone who owns ApeCoin can be part of the ApeCoin DAO.
The increased attention can be partly attributed to the recent controversy surrounding the fees and allowances of Special Councilors. Crypto Twitter users were completely surprised and outraged to find out that the special councilors received hefty payments for their role. This led to more attention for the position and what it entails.
