The American authorities are reportedly ignoring the pro-Crypto-senator Cynthis Lummis’ deadline to explain what has been seized with the Bitcoin (BTC) from DarkNet Marketplace, who had a destroyed Silk Road.
According to a new report from Bloomberg, anonymous people who are familiar with the case that the US Marshals service has not met the Deadline Deadline set by Lummis to answer questions about the seized BTC.
Lummis asked about the exact amount of BTC that the government had, which was the plan for the coins and whether there were specific management protocols for them.
The founder of Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht, was granted grace last month by President Donald Trump after being sentenced to a double life for his role in operating an underground online marketplace that enabled bad actors to sell illegal drugs.
When Silk Road was closed in 2013, the American authorities of Ulbricht took hundreds of thousands of Bitcoin, who agreed Ulbricht to lose in a procedure that is not influenced by Trump’s Pardon.
As Lummis stated in the letter,
“Based on historical sales data, the service sold around 195,092 Bitcoin between 2014 and 2023 for a total of around $ 366.5 million.
At the current market prices, the same bitcoin would be worth more than $ 18.9 billion, which represents a loss of more than $ 18.5 billion in non -realized value for American taxpayers – a stunning loss of 98% in potential value. This pattern raises serious questions about the approach to the service for managing and liquidating Bitcoin. “
At the time of writing, the American Marshals did not respond to the letter from Lummis.
BTC acts for $ 94,752 at the time of writing, a decrease of 4.2% during the last day.
