Alibaba cloud unveiled a partnership with layer-1 blockchain Avalanche, and MUA DAO, a service tier provider. Announced at the Avalanche Summit II event, the alliance aims to establish Cloudverse, a metaverse launchpad that helps companies create, deploy and manage their unique metaverse environments on Avalanche’s blockchain.
The Cloudverse platform
Cloudverse aims to support companies in adapting and integrating metaverse environments. MUA DAO will act as the service layer and help implement and personalize metaverse spaces for customers.
John Wu, President of Ava Labs, explained that Alibaba Cloud’s partners are eager to join web3 and the collaboration plans make it easier for them to develop their SDKs on top of the Avalanche platform.
Avalanche’s subnetwork infrastructure
The partnership leverages Avalanche’s subnetwork infrastructure, known as subnets, to provide customizable application-specific blockchains. Subnets consist of nodes (validators) built on a blockchain, which can be customized according to the requirements of different companies. Cloudverse will use this infrastructure to develop custom blockchain solutions for its customers.
The ability to quickly and effortlessly create metaverses is expected to have a significant impact on enterprises seeking exposure to this space but lack the time or resources to launch their platforms.
Developers using the Cloudverse platform get support for visuals, meta-economy, interactive features, events, and ongoing activities. The companies revealed that any metaverse environment could be fully functional within a month of initial contact.
Past collaborations
This partnership builds on previous collaboration between Alibaba Cloud and Avalanche. In December, Alibaba Cloud began providing infrastructure and tools to help Asia-based users launch validators on the Avalanche network. The original partnership focused on plug-and-play and node-as-a-service initiatives to drive blockchain adoption in Asia.
John Wu, President of Ava Labs, emphasized that Alibaba Cloud has about 4 million customers and 10 million developers. Alibaba sees the metaverse as a means of introducing the Asian business ecosystem to web3. Wu sees the partnership as an excellent opportunity to gain access to 4 million potential developers, who, when using the Avalanche platform, will generate a significant number of on-chain transactions.
