NFT
Doodles is expanding from its Ethereum profile picture (PFP) origins to fully customizable avatars. Today’s launch of the Doodles 2 Character Builder within the Stoodio app for NFT holders is a major step forward, with help from Pharrell Williams and Adidas.
In addition to the launch of the Character Builder, which allows Doodles NFT holders to change their clothes and attributes for a full-body avatar, Doodles has announced an upcoming airdrop for a “Pharrell Pack”. The NFT pack includes digital apparel from musician Pharrell Williams and the fashion brands he has created or collaborated with.
The pack includes Doodles digital wearables from Adidas, Human Made, Billionaire Boys Club (BBC) and Ice Cream. Each pack contains digital wearables, along with a token that can be exchanged for one exclusive physical item of clothing.
How Doodles plans to scale from Genesis Box to millions of NFT avatars
Only 300 of the packs will be produced and they are free to Doodles holders who meet certain criteria. According to the project’s website, requirements include owning an original Doodles NFT and using the Dooplicator NFT to generate digital clothing. Finally, if more than 300 people qualify by the closing date, a raffle will be held to choose winners.
Joe Ranzenbach, Head of Product Management at Doodles, would not confirm whether these brands will one day release standalone digital apparel for Doodles or enter into other collaborations. However, he said Doodles has a “pipeline of brand partners” lined up for future drops.

Williams, the famous musician and record producer known for hits like “Happy,” has been linked to Doodles since June 2022, when he was named the startup’s Chief Brand Officer. At the time, Doodles said it was planning to release an NFT-inspired album (executive produced by Williams) on Columbia Records, but it hasn’t surfaced yet.
Doodles CEO Julian Holguin described Williams as “integral” to the project and a “daily influence” on the growing brand at WebSummit last November.

Ranzenbach gave Decrypt a short demo of the Doodles 2 Character Builder tool, showing the various customizations and animated clothes users can equip. While Doodles first launched on Ethereum, Doodles 2 and its clothes are minted on the Flow blockchain.
When users outfit clothes to their Doodles 2 avatar, Ranzenbach explained that the avatar NFT technically “owns” the clothing assets at the blockchain level – meaning people can sell their fully outfitted avatars as assembled, with all included pieces bundled alongside it .

That can be useful because Doodles users might collect an entire set or outfit from a particular brand and then sell the entire look on the avatar – or otherwise style a unique look and then resell it Gaia’s secondary Flow marketplace.
Ranzenbach said the feature also means Doodles avatars that collect unredeemed rewards in a game to earnfor example could be traded with all that bundled. More use cases may develop as other way around games and platforms will start supporting Doodles avatars after the launch of Character Builder. The fact that Doodles plans to go multi-chain with its characters introduces even more possibilities.
