Former President Donald Trump is reportedly open to offering Elon Musk a cabinet or advisor position if he wins the presidential election in November.
Trump reportedly told Reuters on Monday that the Tesla CEO is a “brilliant guy” and said he would “definitely” consider Musk for a position.
Musk endorsed Trump in July, hours after a gunman tried to kill the former president.
The SpaceX CEO has moved politically to the right in recent years, especially after clashes with left-wing pundits and politicians over the way he operates the social media platform X.
Musk has also blamed the inflation on the federal government’s massive budget deficit.
In an interview with podcaster Lex Fridman, Tesla’s CEO said he would be willing to work with the government to improve the country’s budget situation.
“I have consulted with [Donald] Trump the idea of a government efficiency commission, and I would be willing to be part of that commission…
The antibody response would be very strong. At that point you attack the matrix. [The] matrix will fight back.”
On the social media platform
Musk is an outspoken supporter of crypto. According to Bitcointreasuries.net, Tesla currently owns 9,270 Bitcoin (BTC) worth approximately $709 million.
