IOG donates Atala PRISM, a decentralized ID toolset, now an Open Enterprise Agent, to Hyperledger. Open Enterprise Agent is an open source code base within Hyperledger Labs.
The Open Enterprise Agent provides an extensible and easy-to-use platform for creating products and services related to decentralized identification. It is built in Scala, a language that comes with synchronized mechanisms and functions combined with W3C quality and Hyperledger Aries RFCs. The goal is to be Blockchain-skeptical throughout Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI).
Community involvement and openness are the key requirements for the platform’s balance. The goal is to provide the opportunity for a futuristic trust framework across a range of ecosystems. All of this will be achievable with the community’s collective effort to create software with a long shelf life. This is to gain the trust of developers working on it. This introduced the Hyperledger Lab, which benefits the community.
Using a limited REST API, the Open Enterprise Agent provides the ability to develop controllers in virtually any programming language. Developed on Scala, it is extensible and reliable. The agent uses the Cardano Blockchain in the form of a verifiable data register (VDR).
The PRISM Open Enterprise Agent is designed in the form of a cloud agent and ensures feasibility and availability. The agent is essentially a Java Virtual Machine (JVM)-centric application. It can be used on multiple platforms such as Docker customizable container runtime scenarios. The Open Enterprise Agents play various roles in decentralized identification ecosystems, such as releaser, owner and authenticator.
The agent helps by supporting W3C JWT-VC and will soon be running AnonCreds. Using DIDComm V2, the agent supports multiple protocols, including Mediator Coordinator, Issue Credential, with Present Proof, Report Problem, and Routing Protocol.

It functions as a versatile software agent that provides REST API for simplified integration. Its support for industry-level protocols and promise for interoperability make it feasible for a range of use cases for decentralized identification.
