Video streaming giant Netflix has teamed up with Decentraland to promote its new film ‘The Gray Man’ set in the metaverse. Together with the Electric Factory, supported by the Decentraland Foundation, Netflix’s Latin American division held a “Metaverse Mission” for the film last week. Plus, players were even rewarded with The Gray Man wearables during the event!
Here’s everything you need to know about Netflix x Decentraland’s The Gray Man Metaverse Mission:
About Netflix x Decentraland’s The Gray Man Metaverse mission
Essentially, Netflix x Decentraland’s The Gray Man Metaverse Mission is a maze to find the best agent in the metaverse. Players must enter the maze, clock the best times and win wearables.
In a blog postDecentraland explained the mission in detail: “Find the fountain in the maze and retrieve the USB containing secret information, then go to the secret room to check your personal time and collect your rewards.”
Additionally, the mission tested players’ knowledge of The Gray Man, the new Netflix film starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. Therefore, only those who knew the film well became the “best agents of the metaverse”. The winners walked away with the following wearables:
- Sierra Six jacket
- Lloyd’s Trash Stache
- Miranda’s Bob
Netflix and the metaverse
This isn’t the first time Netflix has entered the web3 space. For example, the popular Netflix show Love, Death + Robots launched a phygital NFT scavenger hunt in June 2022. The QR-coded NFT digital artworks were featured on billboards, videos and episodes of the show. The NFTs cost only 0.0022 ETH.
Likewise, Netflix is reportedly teaming up with NFT marketplace Candy Digital to shut down Stranger Things NFTs early this year.
