Iron Man will be 60 years old in October 2023 and Marvel has decided to celebrate that anniversary in the trendiest way. According to an announcement, the comic book and movie giant has partnered with Funko to launch physical and digital collectibles of the character through VeVe. The collection will go live on October 18, 2023, with 3,000 physical pieces. They will likely cost around $150, and the collection’s digital avatar will resemble the physical appearance.
This is said to be the first Funk Gold premium collectible. This means fans can expect more such collectibles to be launched in the coming days.
Funko’s Steve Nave has said that their approach is to allow fans to show off their most treasured IPs. Nave, the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, called it one Perfect road for the brand to demonstrate its commitment to bringing fandoms to fans, regardless of form.
David Yu, the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of VeVe, has said that the collaboration between the two allows VeVe to provide a physical counterpart by transcending all digital barriers. They now look forward to bringing one of Marvel’s most beloved characters to life. David also appreciated Funko for offering collectibles that give fans the chance to have a unique experience.
However, most of it remains under the radar of those concerned about the environment. With a lot of resources and energy going into manufacturing, there are questions about whether VeVe will actually stay true to its previous pledge to be 100% carbon neutral. VeV had also committed to offering grants to support environmental issues.
What now remains to be seen is the time that VeVe actually needs to achieve the goal of 100% carbon neutrality.
Fans can also download VeVe’s mobile application to view more digital collectibles. This gives them access to additional features such as trading and collecting. Additionally, they can browse rare comic books on the platform. VeVe features an in-app social feed that allows users to share their collectibles with friends and followers on social media. The AR (augmented reality) feature gives them the chance to see their favorite Marvel character virtually live and interact with them in 3D.
The Iron Man collectible goes live on October 18, 2023, celebrating 60 years of the Marvel superhero. The physical figure measures 18″, which also gives the buyer access to their digital collectible figure.
Iron Man remains one of the most beloved Marvel characters among fans. In particular, it was the death of the same character in Avengers Endgame that left a silence in the cinema.
The trend in sales of physical and digital versions of the Iron Man collectible will make this clearer, with figures and statistics expected to be released by the end of October 2023.
