Residents of Saudi Arabia can celebrate the country’s National Day in the Metaverse! The three-day celebration takes place in the metaverse of Decentraland between September 22 and 24. From traditional NFT outfits to an open-air museum, this immersive experience is sure to pay homage to Saudi Arabia’s fascinating culture and history.
How does Saudi Arabia celebrate its National Day in the Metaverse?
September 22 marks the first holiday for Saudi Arabia’s 92nd National Day. This year, however, citizens can also enjoy the event virtually – in the heart of Decentraland.
The Saudi Arabia-based advertising agency The Bold group carefully planned the event with King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah). The result? An authentic combination of culture, history and entertainment.
Visitors to the event can explore an open-air museum that showcases the cultural beauty of Saudi Arabia. In addition, collectors can purchase wearable NFTs inspired by Saudi national dress.
Accordingly, The Bold Group will also offer limited edition POAP collectibles. These NFTs serve as proof of participation in the first Saudi Arabia National Day Web3 celebration.
“By combining our past with our future, we honor the Kingdom’s storied history, preserve our heritage and proudly display it so that people can engage in the new digital realm,” said The Bould Group co-founder Abeer Alessa.
Are citizens of Saudi Arabia accepting more NFTs?
Earlier this summer, an NFT collection titled “The Saudis” caused a stir among collectors. The 5,555 pixel style avatars had achieved the highest OpenSea sales volume 24 hours after launch.
The popularity was also likely due to NFT Twitter personality Farokh, as the influencer bought multiple collectibles at once. Yet Saudi Arabia clearly loves innovation and that includes the NFT sector.
Speaking at the metaverse event, Ziad AbuRjaily, the Bold Experience Unit’s Creative Tech Director said:
“The idea is to usher in the Saudi National Day, a historically traditional celebration, in the new age of technology. It was inspired by the challenge of bringing people from the Kingdom’s 13 different regions together to celebrate Saudi Arabia in one virtual space.”
