World-renowned pet brand Pedigree is announcing a unique metaverse initiative, the FOSTERVERSE program. The program aims to help dogs in need and fight pet homelessness. Specifically, the initiative makes it possible to virtually nurture real life rescue dogs in the metaverse! Read on to learn more about Pedigree’s Fosterverse.
What is Fosterverse – Pedigree’s Metaverse?
The Pedigree Fosterverse addresses the issues of nurturing in real life by providing nurturing opportunities to anyone who owns a digital asset. The Metaverse is a new platform for dog adoption. Shelter Animals Count data suggests there has been a significant increase in animals staying in shelters in the post-pandemic era. In addition, approximately 47% of dogs in shelters have not yet been adopted.
Users can access the Fosterverse program to support dogs in new ways. It allows property owners in Decentraland to adopt and care for real rescue dogs on their virtual land. Metaverse landowners must upload 3D avatars based on real dogs currently listed on Adopt a Pet™ on their Decentraland property. Then players can interact with the dogs they meet in the metaverse. This includes learning the backgrounds, adoption status, and supporting dogs in new ways.
In addition, dog lovers can adopt a dog they meet in real life in the metaverse. This is regardless of whether they own digital property or not. The Fosterverse allows adoption Adopt a pet. In addition, users can also donate to the PEDIGREE Foundation to help similar adoptable pets in need.
New use cases of NFTs for dogs in need
This is a new frontier for web3 and NFTs, unlocking new ways to interact with digital collectibles for social good. Now people have new ways to interact and help dogs in need, and the campaign is breaking down geographic barriers through the Fosterverse. To add to this, the Pedigree brand also plans to collect up to $100,000 in donations. These donations help fund stimulus grants for shelters and rescues across the country. Finally, animal lovers who participate in the program can also earn customized FOSTERVERSE wearables to work out in Decentraland!
“As the first brand to bring adoptable dogs to the Metaverse, we are proud to be at the forefront of this new virtual reality and support our ambition to end pet homelessness, said Jean-Paul Jansen, VP of Marketing for Mars Petcare North America. “Both the Pedigree brand and the Pedigree Foundation have a long history of supporting animal shelters and promoting dog adoption, and this program empowers people to support deserving dogs in a new way through virtual fostering.”
